When visiting Poland and country’s capital city Warsaw, you need to use local currency (Polish Zloty – PLN) for daily expenses if paying in cash is that you prefer while traveling. There are plenty of currency exchange counters (Kantor) in the city but the best currency exchange rates we could find in Warsaw were offered by the money changer located not far from the iconic Palace of Culture and Science.

Exchange rates at Warsaw Airport are really bad so finding a reputable money changer in the city can easily save you about 1/5 or 1/4 of your money.
The best foreign exchange rates we could find in Warsaw during our last visit to Poland were offered by Tavex currency exchange office (Kantor) which is conveniently located in a walking distance from Warsaw Central Railway Station and the iconic Palace of Culture and Science.
Of course, we couldn’t check all the money changers in the city but as experienced travelers we can confirm that exchanging money at Tavex is a really great choice as they are offering probably the most competitive exchange rates in Warsaw.

Limited opening hours is the biggest disadvantage of this money changer, especially when visiting Warsaw on weekend.

The official EUR exchange rate at the time was 4.365 PLN for 1 Euro, so the rate offered at Tavex (4.339 PLN/EUR) was only by 0.026 PLN lower than the market rate. For every euro exchanged here you’re losing only about 0.006 EUR or about 0.6 EUR per 100 EUR.
Best USD to PLN exchange rate in Warsaw
The official USD exchange rate on the day of our visit was 3.940 PLN for 1 US Dollar, so the rate offered at the best money changer in Warsaw (3.905 PLN/USD) was only by 0.035 PLN lower than the market rate. For every dollar exchanged here you’re losing about 0.009 USD or 0.9 USD per 100 USD.
Slightly worse exchange rate than the one you can get for Euro but still very competitive.

The official GBP exchange rate on the day of our visit was 4.778 PLN for 1 British Pound, so the rate offered at Tavex currency exchange office (4.734 PLN/GBP) was by 0.044 PLN or 0.9% lower than the market rate.
Best CHF to PLN exchange rate in Warsaw
The official CHF exchange rate at the time was 4.014 PLN for 1 Swiss Franc, so the best rate offered in Warsaw (3.987 PLN/CHF) was by 0.027 PLN or 0.7% lower than the market rate.
