Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) is Poland’s largest international airport located in Warsaw. You can easily reach the city by taking a train from Chopin Airport to Warsaw City Center.
Warsaw Chopin Airport Train Station
Finding the train station at Warsaw Chopin Airport is easy as the way leading to it is really well signed. Just look for the sign “Pociag/Train” that can be easily spotted on the signboards of the airport.
Once arrived at Warsaw Chopin Airport, pass the customs, turn right and walk to the very end of the building. There you will find stairs and escalator leading down to the railway station and public bus stop.
Public Transport Service Point
If you won’t be able to find the train station or will have any other questions regarding your travel to Warsaw City Center by public transport, you can contact Public Transport Service Point which is located in the Arrivals Hall in Terminal A (see photo below).
Public Transport Service Point at Warsaw Chopin Airport is open daily, from 7:00 to 20:00.
Train from Warsaw Airport to City Center
You can choose one of two city trains for your trip from the airport into the city - S2 or S3.
Warsaw S2 train runs from the airport to Warsaw City Center every 30 minutes from 5:56 to 23:28. S2 train connects Chopin Airport with Warszawa Śródmieście Railway Station. The trip by train between the airport and city center takes about 25 minutes. At Warszawa Śródmieście Railway Station you can transfer to suburban trains, the M1 metro line, buses and trams.
Warsaw S3 train is less frequent ad it departs from the airport to Warsaw City Center every hour from 6:07 to 23:09. S2 train connects Chopin Airport with Warszawa Centralna (Warsaw Central Station). The trip by train between the airport and the main railway station of Warsaw takes about 25 minutes. At Warszawa Centralna you can transfer to long-distance trains, buses and trams.
Actually, you can take any of these trains for getting into the city as Warszawa Centralna and Warszawa Śródmieście are located nearby – only about 5 minutes on foot separates these two centrally located railway stations.
Train Tickets
Train tickets for the trip from Chopin Airport to Warsaw City Center can be purchased at Public Transport Service Point or from one of red ticket machines found at the hall of airport’s railway station.
Ticket machines accept cash (Polish Zloty coins and banknotes) and credit/debit cards. Contactless cards can also be used, making the process of purchasing train ticket as fast as it can be.

If you will still decide to pay in cash, at the hall of railway station you will find a money changer. Currency exchange office is located nearby ticket machines so you will definitely notice it.
Train Ticket Price
For getting from Chopin Airport to Warsaw City Center you need to buy a ticket that is valid for 75 minutes from validation and costs 4.40 PLN.
The ticket allows you to freely use all kind of Warsaw public transport (trains, trams, buses and metro) for 75 minutes from the moment you validate the ticket. It means that after reaching the train station in Warsaw City Center you can easily transfer to a bus, tram or metro and conveniently reach your hotel with the same ticket.
Don’t forget to validate your ticket during your first journey. The ticket can be validated by this yellow box that can be found inside the train.
Just put the ticket into the slot with the strip down and the time until when your ticket is valid will be printed on your ticket. You won’t need to validate your ticket once again after transferring to another mean of transportation.
If you are going to stay in Warsaw for longer and planning to use public transport intensively, you can purchase a one day ticket (costs 15 PLN), 3-day ticket (costs 36 PLN) or weekend ticket valid from 19:00 on Friday till 8:00 on Monday (costs 24 PLN). These tickets can also be purchased from Public Transport Service Point or ticket machine.
Students possessing ISIC Card can buy reduced tickets for half the price.
