Exchange rate at Alicante Railway Station was much worse than you could get at Valencia Train Station and you can definitely get much better deals for currency exchange elsewhere in the city of Alicante. Some decent money changers can be found right after leaving the train station building.

The mid-market GBP exchange rate on the day of our visit was 1.1453 EUR for 1 Pound Sterling, so the rate offered at the main railway station of Alicante (1.097 GBP/EUR = 0.9116 EUR/GBP) was by 0.2337 EUR or 20.4% lower than the market rate.
Exchange rate offered for British Pounds at Alicante Train Station is far from being competitive as for 100 GBP you could get only 91 EUR here while money changers in the city at the same time were offering 111-112 EUR for 100 GBP.

Exchanging your foreign currency at Alicante Train Station is definitely not recommended as you can get much better exchange rates in the city and you just need to cross the street after exiting the train station for getting a much more competitive offer for your money.
