Taking a train to Alicante is a popular way for reaching the travel hub of Spain’s Costa Blanca region. To continue the trip to other areas of the city or destinations such as Benidorm, many travelers choose to transfer to Alicante tram network. While train station and tram station are not located next to each other, transferring between them is relatively easy unless you are traveling with a large luggage.
Alicante Train Station
Alicante Train Station, also known as Alacant Terminal, is the main railway station in Alicante province. Despite the significance of being a travel hub in the area, Alicante Train Station is quite compact and therefore locating the way to the tram station is pretty easy.
Once you arrive at Alicante Train Station, get out from the zone of railway platforms and walk directly to the main exit, which is located right at the other end of the terminal building. Pay attention to the signs leading to TRAM, as there are plenty of them even inside the railway station building.

All displayed 4 tram lines start at the same tram station - Luceros:
- L1 – tram to Benidorm
- L2 – tram to Sant Vicent – Universitat
- L3 – tram to El Campello
- L4 – tram to Playa de San Juan
At Alicante train station you can even find a timetable for all 4 tram lines departing from Luceros tram station. Make sure to check it so you could get a better idea on the time you can afford to spend on the way to the tram station.

Way from Train Station to Tram Station
Signs leading to the tram station (estacion tranvia) are also available outside the building of Alicante Train Station so you shouldn't get confused after leaving the terminal.

After exiting the Alicante Train Station building, you will find yourself in front of the street Avenida Salamanca. You will need to cross this street and continue walking along Avenida de la Estacion (see red arrow).

You can cross Avenida Salamanca street via one of the crossings that are found on the left side of the train station and on the right side of Alacant Terminal.
The distance between Alicante Train Station and Luceros Tram Station is only 300 meters so it shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes to get there.

On the way from the train station to the tram station you will pass a couple of places offering some of the best currency exchange rates in Alicante so you might wish to do your foreign exchange there.
You will also pass Mercadona supermarket and several restaurants and eateries on the way.
Luceros Tram Station
Once at Plaza de los Luceros, don't get surprised that you will only see a high monument with a fountain in the center of it and no trams or tram stop will be noticed. Luceros Tram Station is an underground station and you can get to it by using one of escalators or the lift that is located in the roundabout, next to the outstanding monument of los Luceros.
Luceros is the terminal station for 4 tram lines that depart from the station:
- L1 – tram to Benidorm
- L2 – tram to Sant Vicent – Universitat
- L3 – tram to El Campello
- L4 – tram to Playa de San Juan

If you want to travel from Alicante Train Station to Alicante Airport, you can take Alicante Airport Bus C6 that stops right next to Alacant Terminal building.
