C1 Train from Valencia to Gandia

C1 Train from Valencia to Gandia

There is one suburban train route connecting Valencia with Gandia. 

the Cercanías Valencia train line C1 connects Valencia Nord railway station with the main train station in Gandia city and with Platja de Gandia Train Station, which is located closer to the beach area but receives only 3 trains a day. Most of the C1 trains terminate at Gandia Train Station in the city center. Gandia is the final stop on the C1 route, so you are surely not going to miss it.

Valencia Nord Train Station

Valencia Nord Train Station, locally called Estació del Nord, is the main railway station in Valencia. This railway station is very centrally located, so getting there for taking a train to Gandia is really easy. If you will be staying somewhere in the area around Valencia Town Hall, Valencia Nord train station will be just within walking distance. To get there from other areas of the city, it is easiest by taking Valencia Metro. Metro lines 3, 5, and 9 can be used for getting to Valencia Nord train station, as all of them pass Xativa Metro Station, which is located nearby.

If you will need to exchange your foreign currency to euro, you might prefer exchanging it in Valencia, as foreign exchange options in Gandia are quite limited, especially when traveling off-season. For your convenience, there is a currency exchange office in Valencia Nord.

You can buy a ticket for the Cercanías Valencia train to Gandia at the ticket office of Valencia Nord station or at one of the ticketing machines found there. Pay attention that you shouldn't be buying this ticket too much in advance, as the ticket is valid only for suburban trains departing within 2 hours after purchase.

To make sure that your train departs within the timeframe of your ticket validity, keep an eye on this huge board displaying "Next Train to Your Station." Departure times of the next two trains are displayed for each destination station, which is very handy if you're not able to board the first one on time. You should look for the departure times of the trains going to the stations Gandia and/or Platja Gandia, as they are displayed separately.

The number of the platform for taking a train to Gandia will only be displayed once the train arrives, so you will need to wait for it in the main hall. Once the platform number is announced, scan your ticket at the auto-gate and go to the platform.

After a journey of one hour and a bit, you will arrive at Gandia Train Station, which is located in the city center.

If exploring the old town of Gandia is out of your interest, you can travel to the beach area by the Gandia L2 bus that can be boarded at the bus stop not far from the station or by taxi that is available on the nearby street.

If you decide to take one of two daily trains from Valencia to Platja de Gandia Train Station, you will arrive much closer to the beach area. Depending on the location of your hotel, you might be able to walk there from the train station, or you will need to take the same L2 bus that is passing by both train stations.

Valencia to Gandia Train Timetable

Train C1 from Valencia to Gandia departs from 5:50 to 22:40 on weekdays and from 6:40 to 22:40 on weekends. The frequency of the train on weekdays is 15 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the time of the day. On weekends trains are less frequent, with departures scheduled roughly once per hour.

The C1 train to Platja de Gandia train station departs from Valencia Nord station two times a day on weekends - at 8:10 and 18:10.

The journey from Valencia to Gandia by train normally takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Valencia to Gandia Train Ticket Price

Train tickets for the trip from Valencia to Gandia can only be purchased at the station. At Valencia Nord Railway Station you can buy them at ticket counters or from ticket machines. You can now also pay for your one-way ticket directly at the turnstiles using a contactless credit or debit card or your mobile phone payment system.

The Cercanias train ticket price depends on the number of zones:

  • 1 Zone - 1.80 EUR
  • 2 Zones - 2.05 EUR
  • 3 Zones - 2.65 EUR
  • 4 Zones - 3.70 EUR
  • 5 Zones - 4.35 EUR
  • 6 Zones - 5.80 EUR

As Valencia is in Zone 1 and Gandia as well as Platja de Gandia are in Zone 6, the current Valencia-Gandia train ticket price is 5.80 EUR for a single trip.

Valencia to Gandia Train Ticket Price

If you are going to return to Valencia on the same day, you can buy a return ticket. However, the price of such a ticket is exactly the same as the price of two one-way tickets, making it hardly attractive.

Tips

Even if you can take a train from Valencia to Platja de Gandia Train Station, which is closer to the beach area, take into consideration that this station receives only 2 trains a day on weekends, and you might not find the train schedule suitable for your plans. Taking a train to Gandia Train Station in the city center and changing to the bus L2 can make your Gandia trip plan much more flexible.
