Getting from Prague Airport to the city center is quite easy and you have several options to choose from, depending on your budget.
Prague Airport to City Center by Airport Express (AE)
The first option we would recommend for getting from Prague Airport to the city center is Prague Airport Express Bus operating under the supervision of the Czech Republic Railways and providing transportation between the airport and the central railway station of Prague.
Airport Express Buses are very similar to city buses, but there is a huge sign "AE" on it so recognizing it should be easy. The biggest advantage of this bus is that you travel directly from Prague Airport to the city center without having to deal with the transfer.
AE Airport Express service is fast and easy way of transferring between Prague Airport and the city center, as the route has no stops on the way. Prague Airport bus departs from the two terminals of the airport and drops you off at Prague Main Train Station (Praha Hlavni Nadrazi). Reaching other areas of Prague from here is easy as the metro line C can be used.
The journey by AE Airport Express bus takes about 25-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Buses are operating from 5:30 to 21:00 in both directions, with scheduled departures around every 30 minutes.
AE Airport Express bus ticket costs 100 CZK, children from 6 to 15 years pay half price, and children under 6 years travel free. Despite being twice as expensive as public buses, Prague Airport Express Bus allows you to get to the center of Prague from the airport faster and with more comfort, without changing to the metro and with space for luggage.
You can purchase Airport Express bus tickets online or from Prague Airport Information Center, at the vending machines. AE Bus tickets can also be purchased directly from the driver.
Prague Airport to City Center by Public Transport (Bus + Metro)
The most economical solution among the options for traveling from the airport to Prague is, of course, city’s public transport system. Unfortunately, there are no direct buses from Prague Airport to the city center, so you need to transfer to one of the city’s metro lines. There are several bus routes that can bring you from the airport to various points, where you need to connect to the metro for getting to the center. In addition to the lowest price, another advantage of city buses is that they stop at all 3 terminal buildings of Prague Airport.
You will see the bus stop in front of the terminal building right after leaving through the gates of “Arrivals”. The bus route you should take depends on the metro line you want to use for reaching Prague area where you are staying.
Bus No. 119 + Metro Line A (Green)
Bus No. 119 and Metro Line A is the most used option to get from Prague Airport to the city center by public transport. The route of Bus No. 119 passes several stops from the airport towards Nadrazi Veleslavin Metro Station, which is the last stop on this bus route. This stop corresponds to the station of Metro Line A (Green) that bears the same name. This metro line passes through the most common areas where people choose to stay, such as Mala Strana, Stare Mesto and Vinohrady. The service operates from 05:00-24:00 with bus departures scheduled every 5-20 minutes or so. The journey from Prague Airport to the city center this way can take between 35-45 minutes.
To get to Prague city center, you will have to take the metro and get off at one of the centrally located metro stations such as Staromestska (Old Town Square), Namesti Miru (Vinohrady), Mustek (Wenceslas Square), and Muzeum (Wenceslas Square). During busy hours, the metro runs every 3-5 minutes. If you want to transfer over Line A, you can connect to Line B via Mustek station and to Line C via Muzeum station.
Bus No. 100 + Metro Line B (Yellow)
Bus No. 100 and Metro Line B is another popular way for getting to the center of Prague from the airport. This route is especially convenient when traveling to the western side of the city, if your accommodation is in Smichov or along the route of Metro Line B (Yellow). Bus No. 100 connects the airport with Zlicin, the first stop of Metro Line B (Yellow). It takes about 15-20 minutes to reach Zlicin from the airport. Bus departures from the airport are schedule from 05:45 to 23:39 with the frequency varying during the day between every 15-30 minutes or so.
You can take the metro from Zlicin station and get off at the metro station, which is close to where you will stay on the yellow line. Mustek (Wenceslas Square) or Namesti Republiky stops are the most central metro stops on this metro line. You can the old town within 4-5 minutes of walking from these two stations.
Night Bus No. 910
Buses No. 100 and 119 do not work after a certain hour at night, as Prague metro is not operating at night. Luckily, if your flight is late and other buses no longer operate, you have the option to travel from the airport to the center of Prague with the night bus No. 910. This bus line covers a long route with many stops. The most central bus stop is IP Pavlova, a short walk from Wenceslas Square. The journey to this point from the airport takes about 45 minutes. You can also get off at Stepanska stop, from where you can reach the city center at night by using the tram No. 51.
Night Bus No. 910 is operating from 00:15 until 05:00 with buses departing approximately every 30 minutes. Night bus ticket prices are the same as the ones of day buses.

Prague Airport to City Center by Taxi
Taxi is a direct, comfortable and fast option to get to your destination, but it is also the most expensive way to travel from Prague Airport to the city center.
Prague Airport taxis are usually white. You can also recognize these taxis by their logos and roof signs. The official companies including Taxi Praha, AAA Taxi or Fix Taxi offer the passenger price advantage and safe transportation. You will find them outside the terminal queuing to pick up passengers. Taxis at the airport operate on a first-come basis, so you may have to wait in line to take a taxi during peak hours.
It is also necessary to consider the traffic problem when choosing a taxi. Prague Airport taxis do not have an official flat fee for your trip from the airport to the center of Prague. Depending on the distance, your journey is charged by taximeter. Taximeter opening fee normally is 40 CZK. A normal trip by taxi from Prague Airport to the center costs between 650-800 CZK. Additional fees may apply for traveling on holidays or late at night. It is possible to reach the center in approximately 35-40 minutes by taxi.
